About Us
THE SOCIETY OF PLANT REPRODUCTIVE BIOLOGISTS has been constituted to bring Plant Reproductive Biologists under one umbrella. Requests were made to a large section of scientists working in the field of plant sexual reproduction in various groups of plants (algae, fungi, bryophytes, pteridophytes, gymnosperms and angiosperms and nearly100 persons have joined the society including a large number from different parts of the globe as well. The society is also bringing out a journal- The International Journal of Plant Reproductive Biology and the first volume and number one has already been published. It has 17 research papers including one from Cynobacteria and one from Pteridophyta while others are related to angiosperms. The journal has three papers from abroad and two are in collaboration of Indian and foreign reproductive biologists. The society also organized a National conference with the aim to bring all those who are interested in various aspects of plant reproductive biology at one platform. The executive council and advisory editorial board has also been constituted with Professor S.N. Chaturvedi as its founder President. The list of the councilors and members of the editorial board has been given in this journal. We call upon the members for contributing papers for Volume 1 (2) to be published soon. For the sake of their convenience Instructions to the authors and membership form have also been given at the end of the journal Vol. 1(1).
Membership and printing charges are nominal and are at par with Indian Botanical Society- our parent society.
In the end I wish to request to all senior and young plant reproductive biologists to strengthen the society, help in enrolling more and more members and contributing papers for the journal. Your ideas and suggestions are welcome. I understand fully well, that the first number of the journal has some shortcomings, but your quality papers and suggestions will help me to improve it. I am grateful to the Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi for financial assistance and to all the senior and young delegates who have come from different parts of the country to attend the conference.
